Using Custom Order Metafields
Enriching AI Responses with Custom Data
If you use custom metafields for your orders in Shopify, HeiChat can now use that data to enrich the AI's responses. This allows you to provide highly specific and detailed information to your customers automatically.

We currently support metafields for order-related inquiries. You can enable and configure this feature in Setup > Advanced Settings
.
In the setup area, you simply need to provide two pieces of information:
- The name of the metafield key (e.g.,
custom.packing_video_url
). - A brief, simple description of what that field represents (e.g., 'Packing Video URL').
Use Case: Providing a Packing Video
A great example comes from one of our merchants: they add a custom metafield to each order containing a URL to a video of that specific order being packed.
By configuring this metafield in HeiChat, the AI can automatically include the packing video link whenever a customer asks about their order status. This provides a rich, transparent, and trustworthy answer that enhances the customer experience.
