Optimizing Your Shopify Store for SEO and User Experience

Hello, welcome back! Congratulations on reaching the next section of our tutorial series on building your own Shopify store. This is part two of a four-part series where we will guide you through the process using just your phone. If you missed part one, you can find the link right here and in the description box. Shopify offers a free three-day trial without needing a credit card, so be sure to sign up to follow along in this video. In this segment, you will learn how to organize your products into collections, add essential pages like the contact page, and set up payment acceptance. Organizing your products into collections is crucial for helping customers find what they're looking for on your site. Just imagine how chaotic it would be if all products were on a single page! To create your first collection, simply tap on 'products' and then 'collections' from the admin. You can delete the default 'homepage' collection and create a new one by clicking the plus icon. Your collection should have a title, description, and an image for the collection page. Ensure that 'online store' is checked under availability. You will also have control over the products shown and their order. Take the time to set this up to enhance the shopping experience for your customers. Stay tuned for the next steps in optimizing your Shopify store for success.

Tips for Creating and Adding Collections to Your Website Navigation

When adding collections to your website's navigation, you have the option to sort them automatically based on conditions, or you can choose to sort them manually. If you opt for manual sorting, consider showcasing the best sellers and newest products first, followed by any other products that need to be sold quickly. You can also add conditions for including products in a collection, such as based on price or specific tags. For example, you can set a condition to include products with the tag 'mild' in a particular collection. Additionally, there is no limit to the number of collections a product can belong to, so you can add the same products to multiple collections. After creating a collection, it's important to link it in the website navigation so that customers can easily find it. You can do this by accessing the navigation section in your store settings, adding the collection to the main menu, and giving it a clear name that will be displayed to consumers. Once added, you can remove any unnecessary menu items and ensure that the collection is properly integrated into the navigation. Furthermore, apart from adding collections, you can include other links in the navigation, such as contact pages, policies, and search functions to improve customer experience. Always remember to review how your store looks to customers by clicking the eyeball icon. These tips will help you effectively create and add collections to your website navigation, improving the overall user experience and increasing the visibility of your products.

Tips for Adding Collections and Pages to Your Online Store

Okay, so that's in the navigation, but now I also want to add this collection to the homepage. So from the admin dashboard, click online store and then customize. And now here you can see that you can add it as a section to show up on the actual meat of your page. Done and done. Heck yeah. So now let's start adding some extra pages to our store. Adding pages. Okay guys, pages are for information that won't change often, like an about us page or a contact page. So let's make a contact page together. Go back on the admin page and tap store for me, then hit pages. Let's click the big green button on the top right hand corner and let's give this contact page a title. Now scroll down, see where it says theme template. Click the dropdown and you'll see contact. It will automatically import a contact form without you having to build it. Edit website SEO to control how it will look on a Google listing. So I'm doing this here like this, nice and simple. And I'm going to tap save. Press the three little dots to preview what it's going to look like to your customer. And that looks great. Love it. But don't forget to add these to your navigation. Okay. So I know we already lightly touched on organizing your menus, but let me just explain what should be in each of your menus. So you're going to have a main menu and that's going to come on the top of your website. This should include shop, your collections and a search bar. Think of your main menu as a place where you make it easier for customers to shop. Anything that's more like informational and transactional, like shipping policies and your contact or newsletter signups, that's all going to be put in the footer. The footer is the menu that is at the bottom of your webpage. Okay. I just wanted to put that out there because it's important that you're not wasting precious real estate in the main menu with something that might distract customers from shopping. And speaking of precious real estate, if you're finding that your main menu is too crammed, check this out. You can actually nest links to save yourself some space like this. Let's say you have a collection called sale. You can nest links under it, like under 10 bucks, under $20.

SEO Optimization and Email Setup

Setting up terms of service is essential to protect your content and company from abuse. Placing it in the footer is crucial for visibility and legal compliance. It's important to focus on the shipping page to communicate shipping regions, customs, duties, rates, and delivery times clearly. Customers appreciate transparency, so ensuring these details are easily accessible is a priority. Setting up transactional emails, such as purchase confirmations and shipping notifications, is crucial for customer satisfaction and reducing anxiety levels. Customizing these emails to reflect your brand, including logos and accent colors, is a great way to enhance the customer experience. Additionally, setting up marketing automations to drive sales through targeted email campaigns is a powerful strategy. Exploring all marketing automations and utilizing them to increase sales is a key aspect of email setup for e-commerce businesses.

Setting Up Your Shopify Store: Part 2

Deciding which features to set up for your Shopify store is a crucial step. While not all features need to be launched right away, it is important to have them active within the first few months of operation. Additionally, updating the email address for customer communication is essential. This involves navigating to settings, clicking on store details, and ensuring that your professional email address is set as the sender email and contact store email. Once updated, remember to save the changes. With the emails set up, it's time to focus on getting paid, which is the core objective of creating a Shopify store. To get started with payments, go to the store, then settings, and select payments. The primary option is Shopify payments, which offers a straightforward process. However, if you prefer to accept payments through PayPal or a third-party provider, you have that flexibility as well. By activating Shopify payments, inputting personal and banking information, and completing the account setup, you'll be ready to receive payments.
